Privacy and Cookie Policy

This privacy policy (“Policy”) describes the personal data that is collected or generated (processed) when you use sportstation websites (the “Sites”), such as and sportstation mobile applications (our “Apps”) . This policy describes the types of personal information collected when you use our sites and apps and how your personal information is used, shared and protected. It also explains the choices you have regarding your personal information and how you can contact us.

WHO is responsible for the processing of your personal data?

Which sportstation company is responsible for processing your personal data depends on how you interact with our sites and apps and where you are in the world. The relevant sportstation companies are referred to as "sportstation" or "we".

WHAT personal data we collect and WHEN

We ask you for certain personal information in order to provide you with the services you wish to receive. For example, if you want to save your running results, receive messages, create an account, participate in our events or challenges, or interact with our sites or use our apps. This personal data includes your:

  • Contact details including name (pseudonym), email

  • Login and account information, including username, password and unique user identifier

  • Personal data including gender and date of birth if you provide this

  • Pictures, photos and videos

  • Physical characteristics data, including weight, height and body measurements (such as estimated inseam and shoe/foot measurements). if you specify this

  • Activity data provided by you or generated by our sites or apps (time, duration, distance, location, speed/steps)

  • Personal preferences including your marketing and cookie preferences

We use additional personal data to enable certain functions within our sites and apps or services. For example, we ask for access to your mobile phone location data in order to be able to match your run to an event; to your contacts to enable you to interact with your friends; to your calendar to schedule your events, or to your social media credentials to post content from an app. This personal data includes your:

  • Movement information from the sportstation sensor data

  • Photos, contacts and calendar information

  • Other sensor data, including (GPS) location data

  • Social network information, including login credentials and any information about your public posts about sportstation or your communications with us.

When interacting with our pages and apps, data is automatically collected by the technical platforms that enable the user experience and shared with sportstation. For example, your web browser or mobile device can share certain data with sportstation because these devices interact with sportstation pages or apps. More information about these operations is provided in the "Cookies and Pixel Tags" section below. This data includes:

  • Device identification numbers, call status, network address, memory information, and battery information

  • Cookies, IP addresses, referrer headers, data identifying your web browser and its version, and web beacons and tags

Tools to manage our data collection

When using our apps, we also inform you about our data collection and use through standard consents in the app stores, mobile phone operating systems and in the app environment. We also ask for your consent when it is necessary.

In many cases, your web browser or mobile device platform will provide additional tools that allow you to control when your device collects or shares certain categories of information. For example, your mobile device or web browser will provide tools to allow you to manage cookie usage or location sharing. WHY and HOW we use (process) your personal data

To provide the functionality of the sites, apps and services you request

When you use our sites and apps, we will use your information to provide the product or service you have selected. For example, if you attend an event or promotion, we will use the contact information you give us to communicate with you about the event or promotion.

If you use our apps to record your running results or physical characteristics, we will collect this data and store it so that you can view this data in the app. Your running results may include data that you enter about your activities and also data recorded by sportstation and your mobile devices during your activity, such as location data and movement data. We can use the running results to calculate further information about your activity, such as running distance, reaction times, dribbling technique, sprint speeds, coordination, so that the calculated information can be provided to you as part of the functionality of the app.

In order to use certain functions within our sites, apps and services, you will in many cases have to provide sportsstation with additional data or give additional consent to use the data in a certain way. For example, to share content on social media, you will be required to provide your social media account credentials.

To communicate information about our products, services, events and for other promotional purposes

If you create a sportstation user account, we may use the information you provide to us and information from other sportstation sources, such as your use of the sportstation pages and apps, your visits or your participation in sportstation events or competitions (possibly by other sportstation group companies or Cooperation partners) to send you personalized messages about products and services that may be of interest to you. Where required by applicable law, we will ask for your express consent before processing or sharing your personal information with third parties to provide you with information about sportstation, products, services or events that may be of interest to you.

To operate, improve and maintain our business, products and services

We may use the information you provide us to operate our business. For example, we may use information about how you use our Services to improve your user experience and to help us diagnose technical and performance issues and administer our Sites and Apps.

To protect our rights, property and safety or the rights, property and safety of others

We may also use information about how you use our Sites and Apps to prevent or detect fraud, abuse, illegal uses and violations of our Terms of Service and to comply with court orders, governmental requests or applicable laws.

As described above, sportstation collects information about your running activity or physical characteristics (collectively, “Running Data”) in order to provide our apps and other services. Due to the personal nature of this data, we endeavor to give you clear information about how the run data is used. Because this data may be considered sensitive in some jurisdictions, we take reasonable steps to protect and use this data and will obtain your express consent to use your Run Data where required by applicable law or our internal policies.

  • other third parties as necessary to (i) comply with a governmental request, court order or legal requirement, (ii) prevent illegal use of the Sites and Apps or violation of our Terms of Use of the Sites and Apps; (iii) defend against third party claims; and (iv) assist in the prevention or investigation of fraud (e.g. counterfeiting).

We will not sell, trade or transfer your personal data to any outside person, with the exception of sportstation group companies and third party data processors. We may also transfer personal information that we hold about you if we sell or transfer all or part or parts of our business (this includes restructuring, spin-off, dissolution or liquidation.)

We use a variety of technical and organizational security measures, such as sophisticated encryption and authentication tools, to ensure the security of your personal information. International Transfer of Data

The personal data that we collect or generate (process) in connection with our sites and apps is stored in Europe.

Some of the data recipients to whom sportstation forwards your personal data may be located in countries other than the country in which your data was originally collected. Sportstation receives and stores information, which may include personally identifiable information, from your browser when you use our sites. We use cookies and pixel tags to understand how our customers use our sites and to determine their preferred settings (e.g. country and language settings). This enables us to provide services to our customers and improve their online experience. We also use cookies and pixel tags to provide aggregated data about site usage and site interactions. This allows us to identify trends and gather statistics to improve our site. The cookies that we use on our website can basically be divided into the following three categories:

The sportstation website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses 'cookies' (see section above). The information about your visit collected by the cookies, including your IP address, is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. If sportstation has activated IP anonymisation, Google will first abbreviate your IP address in the member states of the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the complete IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA and abbreviated there. Google will use the information collected on behalf of the website operator to evaluate your use of the sportstation pages, to create reports on your activities within the sportstation pages and to provide other services for sportstation in connection with the use of sportstation Internet usage. Under no circumstances will Google link the IP address transmitted by your browser with other Google data as part of Google Analytics.

If you decide to connect your sportstation user account to another provider's device or user account, your data protection rights on the third-party platforms are governed by the data protection guidelines of the respective platform. For example, if you share your sportstation activity in the social networks of other providers, the data protection regulations of the respective network apply to the data that is created there.

Our Sites and Apps may contain links to other (third party) websites and apps for your convenience or informational purposes.
